Are you fit and healthy?

The NHS Live Well service is dedicated to improving people's health and supporting people to make healthy lifestyle choices.  They have made some important recommendations that affect you!

Children and young people, aged 5 - 18, need to do:
  • At least 1 hour of moderate physical activity every day.
  • 1 hour of intensive physical activity at least 3 days in every week.

Moderate physical activity includes:
  • Walking to school
  • Playing in the playground
  • Riding a scooter
  • Skateboarding
  • Rollerblading
  • Walking the dog
  • Cycling

Intensive physical activity includes:
  • Football
  • Swimming
  • Rugby
  • Martial arts, such as karate
  • Energetic dancing
  • Gymnastics
  • Running

Intensive physical activity is important for developing muscle strength and bone strength.
